AI tools on websites and apps* (released December 2025)

  1. 22.5m people used AI tools in October 2025

  2. +1.46 million new AI users in the last month 

  3. 84% of total time spent on AI tools** went to ChatGPT

AI tools on websites and apps* (released November 2025)

  •  21.1 million people used in September 2025

  •  +78% monthly audience growth from September 2024 to September 2025

  •   24% of 15-24s used every day in September 2025

Use of AI tools is highest amongst 15-24s with 67% of this age group having used AI tools in September 2025, and almost a quarter having used AI tools every single day.  Growth over the last six months is largely driven by 35-54 age group (+49%) while 15-34s saw more modest +26% growth. While monthly audience growth remains strong we are starting to see a slight slowdown with monthly audience growing by 1.4% from August to September compared to +2.6% from July to August.  

ChatGPT remains the top used AI tool, with monthly audience reaching 16M in September 2025. Although Perplexity has a much smaller monthly audience (668M in September 2025) this tool has seen slightly faster growth over the last six month (+78%) compared to ChatGPT (+52%)

 

Gen AI use in the workplace (released October 2025)

  • 44% of time spent on AI tools occurred during work hours in August 2025*
  • The top three uses of AI at work are generating ideas (44%) looking up information (41%) and creating written content (39%)** 
  • 74% of those who used GenAI at work think it boosted their productivity a fair amount or a great deal**

People were most likely to use AI tools during the working day in August 2025, with 44% of time spent on AI tools occurring within 9am-5.29pm. Reach of AI tools is also highest amongst these hours with 1 in 3 UK internet users 15+ visiting an AI tool’s website or app during this time, this rises to over half (56%) of 15-24yrs  

Deloitte’s Consumer Trends UK 2024 report revealed that the majority of those that used Gen AI at work found that it boosted their productivity with one in four claiming it made them a great deal more productive. However, there was a gap between employee use and adoption by employers with only 27% claiming that their employer encouraged them to use Gen AI.

UK AI Usage* (released September 2025)

  • 20.2 million people used AI tools** in July 2025
  • +112% monthly audience growth in AI usage from July 2024 to July 2025 
  • 21% of 15-24s used AI tools** every day in July 2025 

Use of AI tools is highest amongst 15-24s with 63% of this age group having used AI tools in July 2025, and slightly over a fifth having used AI tools every single day. However, over the past six months 35-54s have seen the fastest growth in monthly audience use of AI tools (+59%).  

ChatGPT is leading the way with 15.1M monthly users in July 2025, while the second most commonly used AI tool Microsoft copilot reached 2.5 million people. We have generally seen an increase in AI usage with tools such as Perplexity and Claude AI seeing strong audience growth from the start of the year.
